Fundraising at school

Raising money for SOS Children’s Villages UK can be a rewarding and educational experience for young people. Planning and organising a fundraising activity enables students to practice their research, teamwork and creative thinking skills.

Your school could:

  • Hold a bake sale for students, staff and parents
  • Arrange a sponsored run, walk, cycle or spelling bee
  • Hold a non-uniform day
  • Set up an SOS club
  • Organise a collection
  • Nominate SOS Children’s Villages UK as your charity of the year

If you would like to organise a fundraising event or plan a talk or assembly about SOS Children's Villages UK and the work we do, please email us at hello@sosuk.org or call 01223 365 589.

William Westley School

William Westley School in Cambridgeshire has been sponsoring the SOS Children’s Village community in Tlokweng, Botswana since 1999. The children at William Westley learn about our work with unsupported children throughout the school year, and regularly write letters to the children in Tlokweng. The school also fundraises for us and all the proceeds from their annual Christmas and summer productions are donated to our work. We were delighted to visit the school recently and attend their annual production.

Francis Bailey Primary School

Francis Bailey Primary School in Berkshire has a weekly Wekafrika Club where pupils meet to learn about Africa and fundraise for SOS Children’s Villages UK. The club sponsors our SOS Children’s Village community in Kakiri, Uganda and regularly writes and receives letters from the children there. Our Community and Schools Engagement Officer visited the club recently to answer questions from the children about the work of SOS Children’s Villages and life in Kakiri.

You can find more ideas and information about fundraising at our fundraising ideastips and tricks, and sponsored events pages. Or you can contact our Community Fundraising Officer at rebecca.hargrave@sosuk.org or 01223 222 967 for support.
