SOS Children’s Villages UK (SOSUK) is marking World Orphan Week with a charity screening of Despicable Me at the Arts Picturehouse in Cambridge this Saturday.
The #WOW2018 campaign aims to raise awareness of the difficulties and dangers experienced by the more than 150 million orphaned or abandoned children around the world, as well as to raise donations for our life-changing work.
SOSUK’s CEO Alison Wallace said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Picturehouse Cinemas to help highlight the plight of the millions of orphaned and abandoned children worldwide. Every 2 seconds another child becomes an orphan and we owe it to them, and ourselves, to ensure they receive the love and support they need to thrive.
“No child should have to face the world alone, and with people’s support this World Orphan Week we can help ensure they never have to. So please be WOW this weekend and bring the whole family along to our charity film screening, and have a fun morning out in support of a great cause.”
The Kids’ Club event is being held from 10am on Saturday February 3 at the Arts Picturehouse on St Andrew’s Street, Cambridge, and includes lots of fun arts and craft activities for the kids before the curtain goes up at 11am. Tickets cost just £2 each to cover expenses. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The screening is the first in a series of fun family events and free bar screenings we have planned throughout 2018 in partnership with Picturehouse Cinemas to celebrate our 50th birthday.
