By sponsoring a village, you support a whole community. A village sponsorship pays for qualified teachers and carers, school books, uniforms, and food, as well as providing access to good healthcare, clean water and building maintenance. It also funds community projects, including our family strengthening programmes supporting families to stay together in the wider area. Many of the children we care for have had difficult life experiences and for those children with specific needs, we provide trauma counselling and psychological support.

Mama Fadia has raised more than 30 children in our village in Bethlehem

Mama Fadia has raised 34 children since she became an SOS parent a quarter of a century ago. Over the years she has watched her children grow up and build careers and lives of their own – but she has never stopped being their mother.

Her living room walls at the Bethlehem village in Israel are lined with pictures of her SOS children – tracking their progress from childhood to graduation and marriage. Nine of her children have married and had children of their own, so pictures of her fourteen grandchildren have joined the rest. She is currently raising six children: three boys and three girls.

Mama Fadia said: “I love all my children. Not just the six children who live in my home now, but all the children in the village, all the children who have lived with me over the years, and all the children who have lived in the village since I’ve been here. Without SOS Children’s Villages, these kids would be lost. Without food, a loving home, a mother, an education, they would be lost. These are basic needs in life.”

SOS Children’s Village in Bethlehem cares for up to 126 children who are being raised in family-like environments with an SOS parent and brothers and sisters. We also run a family strengthening programme helping families set up businesses or getting access to essential supplies.

Sponsoring an SOS village is rewarding

When you sponsor an SOS village you will be supporting every child growing up in the village and those most in need in the surrounding community. Your regular donation gives young people a chance to grow and flourish in a supported and safe environment with a professionally developed care plan to take them to adulthood.

When you set up a sponsorship, we will send you an email to confirm your sponsorship. Within two weeks you will receive a welcome pack with information and photos of your sponsored village. Your sponsorship will help pay for qualified teachers and carers, school books, uniforms, food and basic needs, as well as providing access to good healthcare.
