Strategic Partners

Our strategic partnerships aim to create sustainable change on important global issues - such as right to education, women's empowerment, emergency relief, and the reduction of child abandonment through family strengthening programmes.

One of our key strategic partners on a global level has been HSBC. Our partnership has focused on breaking down the barriers preventing children and young people from reaching their full potential. Since 2006, HSBC has funded collaborative projects that have improved access to education and life skills, provided essential counselling for vulnerable children, and helped build self-sufficient communities for young people.

Charity of the year

A number of companies have selected SOS Children's Villages UK as their charity of the year, resulting in rewarding and mutually beneficial partnerships that make a huge impact on the lives of children, their families and communities. Through these partnerships we aim to engage employees, help companies' meet their CSR objectives and, most importantly of all, support the needs of vulnerable children worldwide.

Our long-term partner Concordia named us their charity of the year in late 2017. They will help raise funds through employee engagement to send children to school in India.

Employee engagement

Engaging your employees with SOS UK's work means they will have the opportunity to make a significant difference and add value to make global change through fundraising.

Employee engagement can take many different forms. We will assign a designated SOS UK account manager to you and they will be happy to discuss a range of options with you - from challenges and match funding, to employee contributions and bespoke fundraising events.

As an employer, you may like to go one step further by matching all or a proportion of your employees' charitable donations, creating an incentive for your staff to go the extra mile in their fundraising efforts. Often, employers will choose to exceed the original donation.

Our partnership with SThree

Our partnership with SThree has raised more than £1 million through employee fundraising and matched giving over the course of nine years, making an enormous difference to communities in several countries. As part of this, the SOS team has worked with SThree employees across the globe to fundraise for regional and international projects, which has also involved partnering with clients and suppliers.

Key projects supported by SThree include: ongoing assistance for Chipata Village and the Chipata family strengthening programme, helping us prevent children from becoming vulnerable in the first place, the provision of primary school education for children in Manila, the Philippines, scholarships to help SOS students who grew up in Africa go to university, and our emergency relief programmes, e.g. supporting vulnerable refugees in Greece.

Corporate donations

Businesses can claim tax relief on donations to charities under corporate Gift Aid. If your company would like to make a donation you can do so at the link below. All donations are gratefully received and there are many ways in which we can put your donations to work and work with you to improve the lives of vulnerable children worldwide.

Payroll giving

Payroll giving, also known as Give As You Earn (GAYE) or workplace giving, is a tax-efficient means of charitable giving whereby your employees’ donations are deducted from their salary before tax.

Payroll giving enables employees to make automated, tax-efficient, donations to one or more charities from their monthly pay packet. As an employer, you simply deduct donations from your employees’ salaries before calculating their tax liability and other deductions. This means that employees do not pay tax on the income they have chosen to donate to charity.

One-off donations such as contributions from an annual bonus can also be given to charity through payroll giving.

Payroll giving is a great way to strengthen your relationship with your team and can help you fulfil your CSR commitments. It is supported by almost all modern payroll systems and so is easy to run at virtually zero cost.

Cause-related marketing initiatives

Promote a product or service through cause-related marketing whilst raising vital funds for unsupported children.

Partnering with SOS Children’s Villages UK can help build brand awareness, increase sales, maintain customer loyalty and reach new customers. It also offers an opportunity to generate positive media and brand reputation.

All you need to do is select the right product, agree a marketing plan with us and donate a stated percentage of the sale price to SOS Children’s Villages UK - thereby enhancing its appeal to the customer.

Pro bono

Some of our corporate partners offer pro bono services, such as sharing technical or legal expertise, marketing or communications support. As a charity we always warmly welcome pro bono support as it helps us keep our costs low - extending our donors’ impact even further - while benefitting from the skills of our corporate partners.

If you would like to discuss how we can best work together, please contact the Corporate Partnerships team at corporate@sosuk.org or on 01223 365 589.
