BARRETT TOWN, MONTEGO BAY

In 1971, 3 family houses were constructed in Barrett Town. By November 26th the following year, the Village had its first registration. In 1975, a further 6 family houses were completed, and were occupied between the periods of 1976 to 1978. The land on which the Village occupies, was donated by Mr. John Rollins.

Currently the Village accommodates approximately 70 children in 8 family houses. It also has a Kinder-Prep School, Youth Facility for girls, Training Facility, which also doubles as a Guest House, and accommodation for staff. There is also a Youth Facility for boys, which is located in Montego Bay outside the Village Facilities.

The SOS Children's Village in Barrett Town is about half an hour drive from the Montego Bay Town Centre, in the direction to Ocho Rios, and is within close proximity to the local airport and hotels.

The Village has a Computer Lab, a Library, and a Learning Centre for children with learning difficulties.
